Affirm and Shopify have launched Shop Pay Installments in Australia, the first major market to bring buy now pay later fully inside consumer credit law. Affirm's Australian entity has held a credit licence since 30 October 2025, ten months before the product appeared.

On 27 August 2026 OFAC published two Iran-related general licences at 91 FR 55265. Both were signed three days earlier and posted to OFAC's website that day. General Licence BB authorises the wind-down of transactions previously permitted by the five authorisations OFAC suspended on the same date, through 8 September 2026.

The Securities and Exchange Commission published its proposed Regulation Crypto Assets on 21 August 2026. It runs to 146 pages and would create two exemptions from registration under the Securities Act of 1933, plus a conditional safe harbor from the term investment contract. Nine days in, the public comment file holds 32 entries, and not one comes from a trade association, an exchange, an asset manager or a bank.

Visa joined the Monetary Authority of Singapore's BLOOM initiative and will pilot stablecoin settlement with Nium on weekends and public holidays. Intersecting the Singapore, US and euro-area settlement calendars, all three are open on 244 days of 2026 and at least one is shut on 121 — including a five-day window in February where Washington's Birthday runs into Chinese New Year.

Ericsson and MTN Group Fintech completed a cloud-native migration of the MoMo platform in Eswatini, Ghana, Rwanda and Uganda. The only figures disclosed are CPU load, database load and API latency, none with a baseline. MTN's own results for the same period count 70.8 million users and 330.5 billion dollars of transaction value.

The dashboard behind it publishes two different totals for that month, and the widely quoted USDC share belongs to the smaller one. On the portion anyone can independently observe, growth was nearly ninefold.
