BLIK Recurring Payments transaction volume

“BLIK is becoming a natural way to pay for digital services that Poles use regularly.”
BLIK RECURRING PAYMENTS REACH CHATGPT
OpenAI users in Poland can now use BLIK Recurring Payments to pay for services including ChatGPT Plus.
The capability has been made available through cooperation between BLIK and Stripe, which provides payment infrastructure for OpenAI subscriptions.
Unlike a standard one-time BLIK payment, the recurring service does not require the user to manually approve every scheduled charge. The user completes an initial activation, after which subsequent payments can be processed according to the subscription schedule.
Users can review and manage their active recurring-payment arrangements directly through participating banking applications.
HOW THE PAYMENT EXPERIENCE WORKS
When a customer selects BLIK Recurring Payments, the initial setup authorises the merchant to process eligible future payments.
This creates a payment experience designed for:
- Digital subscriptions
- Memberships
- Recurring service fees
- Other scheduled payment obligations
The model combines the familiarity of a local Polish payment method with the continuity required by subscription businesses.
BLIK said the service is currently supported by customers of eight Polish banking groups, including PKO Bank Polski, Bank Millennium, ERSTE Bank Polska, ING Bank Śląski, Alior Bank, Nest Bank, Credit Agricole and SGB Cooperative Banks.
Availability still depends on the customer’s bank, account eligibility and the merchant’s payment configuration.
RECURRING BLIK TRANSACTIONS CONTINUE TO GROW
BLIK reported that users completed more than 1.5 million recurring-payment transactions during the first quarter of 2026, with their combined value exceeding PLN 100 million.
Transaction volume increased by 127% year on year, while the reported transaction value was nearly three times the level recorded during the corresponding period a year earlier.
These figures cover the wider BLIK Recurring Payments service. They should not be interpreted as the number or value of OpenAI subscription payments.
WHY THE INTEGRATION MATTERS
The launch demonstrates how global digital platforms can support local payment habits without requiring every customer to rely on an international payment card.
For subscription businesses, adding a local recurring-payment method may help reduce friction during initial setup while supporting scheduled off-session payments.
However, recurring payment performance also depends on factors including customer consent, account status, available funds, risk controls and the participating bank’s payment rules.
The OpenAI implementation may also create a reference case for other international businesses using Stripe and seeking to offer BLIK Recurring Payments to customers in Poland.
