What this does not show
The two operators measure differently: the Fed counts settled customer credit transfers and excludes returns and liquidity management transfers, while The Clearing House reports rounded totals of processed payments without a matching definition. The comparison covers only FedNow and RTP, not other services that move money quickly in the US, such as card-based push payments. HaiPay did not contact the Fed or The Clearing House.
What to watch
Whether FedNow's share of payments passes 5% when fourth-quarter figures are published in early 2027.
Whether its average payment, $99,414 in the first quarter and $58,161 in the third, keeps coming down.

Methodology and limitations
Compiled by HaiPay on 2 November 2026 from the Federal Reserve's FedNow quarterly data file of 20 October 2026 and The Clearing House's quarterly RTP reports for the first three quarters of 2026. HaiPay added each network's payments and value for the same calendar quarter and divided FedNow's figures by the total. FedNow counts settled customer credit transfers, excluding returns and liquidity management transfers. The Clearing House reports processed payments rounded to the nearest million and value rounded to the nearest billion dollars, and does not publish a matching definition, so the shares are approximate. Average payment values for RTP are HaiPay's calculation from the rounded figures; FedNow's are as published by the Federal Reserve. The comparison covers only these two networks. HaiPay did not contact the Federal Reserve or The Clearing House.
